Project Description

The project aimed to develop a Global B2B File Transfer product using AWS Transfer Family's storage system, specifically leveraging S3 buckets. This product was intended to facilitate secure and efficient file sharing and invoice distribution between account managers at Wex and their clients. The primary goal was to streamline the process, enhance security, and improve the overall experience for both Wex account managers and their customers.

My Role as a Product Manager

Defining Product Vision: I played a pivotal role in shaping the product's vision by understanding the needs of both internal account managers and external clients. This involved conducting market research, gathering feedback from stakeholders, and aligning the product with Wex's overall goals.

Requirements Gathering: I worked closely with various teams, including account managers, software engineers, and AWS experts, to gather detailed requirements. This involved conducting interviews, surveys, and workshops to understand the specific needs and preferences of the end users.

Product Roadmap: I created a comprehensive product roadmap that outlined the key milestones, features, and timelines for the project. This roadmap served as a strategic guide for the development team and helped ensure that the product aligned with business objectives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaboration was a key aspect of my role. I facilitated communication between various teams, ensuring that the development, user experience, and security aspects were all addressed effectively.

User Experience Design: I collaborated with UX/UI designers to create an intuitive and user-friendly interface for the product. This involved wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing to ensure that the product met the highest standards of usability.

Project Oversight: I provided ongoing oversight to the development process, addressing issues and changes as they arose. This included working with Agile methodologies to ensure that the project stayed on track.

Outcome

Efficient File Transfer: The Global B2B File Transfer product using AWS Transfer Family streamlined the file transfer process, reducing the time it took for account managers to share important documents and invoices with clients.

Enhanced Security: By leveraging AWS Transfer Family and its security features, the product significantly improved data security and ensured that confidential information was protected during the transfer process.

Improved Customer Satisfaction: The user-friendly design and faster file transfer process led to increased customer satisfaction among both account managers and clients. It also helped attract new clients to Wex.

Scalability: The product was designed with scalability in mind. It could accommodate the growing needs of Wex as the company expanded its client base and services.
